The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused West Bengal police, ruled by the Trinamool Congress (TMC), of using excessive force on protesters. BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said during a press conference that while protests were peaceful elsewhere, police in West Bengal baton charged demonstrators. "Several protesters were injured during the police action," Bhandari claimed. "Some were left bleeding and others passed out." He linked the issue to TMC's "appeasement politics," accusing the state government of prioritizing certain vote banks over Hindu citizens' rights. Bhandari also questioned the government's security measures for Hindus, citing past violence in Murshidabad earlier this year. He demanded the protection of the right to peaceful protest.
