CESC Launches 30 kW Fast EV Charging Unit to Boost Green Energy in Mysuru
December 22, 2025
Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) unveiled a new 30 kW fast electric vehicle (EV) charging station at its office in Vijayanagar, Mysuru, on December 22. The upgraded facility can charge two EVs at the same time and provides full charges within 40 to 45 minutes.
The inauguration was led by Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda, CESC chairman and MLA, with managing director K.M. Munigopal Raju also present. Mr. Gowda highlighted the growing use of electric vehicles and said, "This initiative will help reduce air pollution, lower dependence on imported fuel and promote the use of green energy."
Set up in collaboration with Zion Electric, the fast-charging unit is accessible via the Zion app. Currently, it is available only for CESC office EVs on a pilot basis. The corporation will review its performance and user experience before deciding to open the facility to the public.
Explaining future plans, Mr. Raju said, "CESC is keen to promote the use of renewable energy. With the launch of the EV fast-charging hub, we plan to establish more EV charging centres in Mysuru city and other areas under CESC’s jurisdiction to encourage the use of electric vehicles in the future."
Several senior CESC officials witnessed the launch, including technical director D.J. Divakar and chief general manager (technical) Sharanaamma S. Jangin.
This move marks a strong push towards cleaner transport and renewable energy adoption in the region.
