Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s S.V. Vidyalaya in Tirupati marked National Mathematics Day on Monday to honor the birth anniversary of famed mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The event aimed to promote math awareness and celebrate Ramanujan’s remarkable work in number theory, infinite series, and mathematical analysis. The programme began with a floral tribute to Ramanujan’s portrait by chief guest Satyanarayana Raju, Honorary Director and Treasurer of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Tirupati. In his speech, Raju shared Ramanujan’s inspiring life story. He spoke about Ramanujan’s intense passion and dedication to math, his knack for discovering new equations, and solving tough problems with simple ideas. Raju also touched on Ramanujan’s deep faith in the goddess of Namakkal temple in Tamil Nadu. He encouraged students to build hard work, perseverance, and commitment in their math studies. He stressed that a solid footing in math supports many fields like technology, engineering, accounting, and science. The event featured various math-themed competitions for students, blending learning with fun. Overall, it served as a tribute to Ramanujan’s genius and underscored the vital role of math in education and daily life.
