UDF Leads Strongly in Ernakulam During Kerala Local Body Polls Counting

Counting of votes for Kerala's local body elections is underway on December 13, 2025. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) is holding a strong position in Ernakulam district. By 10:15 a.m., UDF was leading in the district panchayat, Kochi Corporation, 11 municipalities, 11 block panchayats, and 40 grama panchayats.
In the Ernakulam district panchayat, UDF led in 20 divisions while the Left Democratic Front (LDF) was ahead in only three. The Kitex-backed Twenty20 party led in two divisions, Puthencruz and Kolenchery.
In Kochi Corporation, UDF was leading in 45 wards despite starting behind in the first rounds. LDF led in 23 seats. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and independents led in five wards each. UDF’s opposition leader in the Corporation, Antony Kureethara, conceded defeat in Island North ward, which BJP retained.
UDF led in 12 of the 13 municipalities in the Ernakulam district by 10 a.m. Municipalities with UDF leads included Aluva, Angamaly, Eloor, Kalamassery, Koothattukulam, Kothamangalam, Maradu, Muvattupuzha, North Paravur, Perumbavoor, Piravom, and Thrikkakara. The NDA led only in Thripunitura municipality.
In block panchayats, UDF showed a clear lead in 11 of 14 bodies, with LDF ahead in three. The Kitex-backed Twenty20 maintained its lead in its strongholds: Kizhakkambalam grama panchayat and Aikkaranad panchayat, the same places it won in the last election. UDF led in Kunnathunad, while LDF was ahead in Mazhuvannoor panchayat.
The counting continues to reveal UDF’s stronghold in Ernakulam as the 2025 local elections progress.
