Delhi's Air Quality Nears 'Severe' Level with AQI at 397 on December 13, 2025

Delhi's air quality plunged to an alarming level on Saturday morning, December 13, 2025, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 397. This is just shy of the 'severe' category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Out of all monitoring stations in the capital, 21 stations crossed the 400-mark, falling firmly in the 'severe' pollution range. Wazirpur recorded the highest AQI at 445, followed closely by Vivek Vihar at 444 and Jahangirpuri at 442. Other areas like Anand Vihar (439), Ashok Vihar and Rohini (437 each), and Narela (432) also faced dangerous air conditions. The CPCB data showed similar high AQI values in Pratapganj (431), Mundka (430), Bawana, ITO, Nehru Nagar (429 each), Chandni Chowk and Punjabi Bagh (423 each), and Siri Fort and Sonia Vihar (424 each). Burari Crossing registered 414, Karni Singh Shooting Range 409, North Campus and RK Puram 408 each, and Okhla Phase 2 404. The CPCB categorizes AQI values from 401 to 500 as 'severe'. The Air Quality Early Warning System predicts that Delhi's air will remain 'very poor' throughout the day and could worsen to 'severe' by Sunday, December 14. This thick smog adds to health risks and calls for urgent attention.
