The Indian government has recognized 2,01,335 startups under the Startup India initiative, said the Commerce and Industry Ministry on December 10, 2025. These startups have generated over 21 lakh jobs across the country. Recognized units benefit from incentives such as income tax relief. The Ministry also highlighted that the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes attracted investments exceeding ₹1.88 lakh crore till June 2025 across 14 sectors. This led to incremental production and sales of over ₹17 lakh crore and created more than 12.3 lakh jobs, both direct and indirect. Exports under PLI crossed ₹7.5 lakh crore, mainly from electronics, pharmaceuticals, telecom, networking products, and food processing sectors. The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) processed more than 326 million orders until October 2025, with 18.2 million orders in October alone. The average daily transactions on ONDC reached about 5,90,000. On ease of doing business, over 47,000 compliances were reduced till November 2025. Among these, 16,108 compliances were simplified, 22,287 digitized, 4,458 decriminalized, and 4,270 removed as redundant. The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025, with 355 provisions, was introduced in Lok Sabha on August 18, 2025, aiming to decriminalize 288 provisions and amend 67 to improve the ease of living. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India rose sharply to $748.38 billion over 11 years (2014-25), up 143% from $308.38 billion in the previous 11 years (2003-14), reflecting strong investor confidence.
