IMD Issues Cold Wave Alert in Telangana; Seven Districts Face Chill on December 11

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert for seven districts in Telangana for Thursday, December 11, 2025. The districts under the alert include Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy. The cold wave is expected to hit isolated pockets in these areas.
According to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data, Kohir in Sangareddy district recorded the lowest minimum temperature recently at 5.6°C between December 9 and 10. Other low temperatures include Sirpur (6°C), Bheempoor (6.2°C), and Moinabad (6.6°C).
The IMD bulletin says Hyderabad and nearby areas will see a clear sky for the next 24 hours, with partial clouds possible by evening. It warns, “Mist or hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during morning and night hours.” It added, “The minimum temperatures are very likely to be below normal by 3°C to 4°C during the next two to three days.” The expected temperatures in Hyderabad are around a maximum of 29°C and a minimum of 13°C.
Out of Telangana’s 33 districts, 25 recorded temperatures below 10°C in the recent days. Other notable low readings include 7.8°C in Shivampet (Medak) and 9.4°C in Uppal (Medchal Malkajgiri). The highest minimum temperature recorded in the state was 12.4°C at Marredpally in Hyderabad.
The cold wave alert reminds residents to take precautions as temperatures drop sharply across the state.
