Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has introduced a ₹275 pick-up charge for corporate taxis at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). This fee applies to the premium pick-up zone at Terminal 1 departures. Corporate taxis will pay ₹275 for the first 10 minutes and ₹150 for every additional five minutes. The pick-up point is the fifth lane at Terminal 1 departures. These changes come amid ongoing updates to parking and pick-up rules at the airport. Earlier, commercial vehicles could park for 10 minutes free at the Terminal 1 arrival area. This free period was extended to 15 minutes starting December 26, 2025. Previously, commercial vehicles had to wait in the P3 and P4 parking zones with 10 minutes free parking. Now, drivers get 15 minutes free. After that, a charge of ₹100 applies for the first 30 minutes and ₹50 for each extra hour. The parking rule changes have caused much unrest among cab drivers. On December 16, 2025, many drivers protested near the Sadahalli toll gate, demanding the rules be rolled back. They say the new fees increase costs and make passenger pick-ups harder. Public opinion is also visible online. A Change.org petition titled “Roll back new pick-up rules at KIA Bengaluru” has over 1,500 signatures. Petitioner Hareesh Amjuri states, “The recent changes have caused significant inconvenience to travellers, particularly senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and families carrying heavy luggage, calling for a more passenger-friendly approach to airport pick-up policies.”
