The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) is set to curb malpractice in the II PUC practical exams for 2025-26 using web streaming, CCTV cameras, and online marks entry. "To prevent any shortcomings in the II PUC practical examinations, a circular has already been issued to implement web streaming and a system of entering marks online at the examination centres from this year," said Gopalakrishna H.N., Director of KSEAB. The practical exams will be conducted at the district level, led by Deputy Directors of Pre-University, from January 27 to February 14. In subjects with practicals, theory carries 70 marks and practicals 30 marks. Students can appear for theory exams even if absent from practicals but must score at least 21 out of 70 in theory to pass, with a total of 33% marks needed overall. KSEAB has noted concerns over students scoring very high marks in practicals but low in theory, and cases where poor practical performances got high marks. "Such unethical practices raise doubts about the sanctity of the evaluation of practical exams," the Board stated. Already using web streaming for SSLC and II PUC exams, KSEAB will now do the same for practicals. AI-enabled cameras will monitor exams in real time from headquarters. Any irregularities will trigger immediate alerts. Additionally, marks for practical exams must be entered online directly from the exam centres to the KSEAB server. CCTV installation is mandatory in all centres to monitor exam processes and prevent unauthorized entry. A District Practical Examination Committee will be set up in each district, including a principal and senior science lecturers. This committee will schedule exams and appoint examiners, with strict rules against schedule changes. Any complaints or problems will hold the Deputy Director of Pre-University district directly accountable and disciplinary action will follow. These steps aim to protect the fairness and credibility of II PUC practical exams starting this year.
