Mysuru Palace Lights Up for Green Fireworks and New Year Bash with Tight Security
December 30, 2025
The Mysuru Palace will be the shining stage for a 15-minute fireworks show to welcome the New Year. This tradition started in 2017 and draws thousands of locals and tourists to watch the grand spectacle. Alongside the fireworks, the ongoing Maghi Mela, the winter festival starting December 21, keeps the palace lit every evening.
Visitors enjoy flower shows and beautiful floral decorations around the palace, adding charm to the festivities. Subramanya, deputy director of the Mysuru Palace Board, shared that cultural events over the past nine days have been a big hit among visitors.
On December 31, the Mysuru Police Band will perform a musical show from 11 p.m. to midnight, mixing English and Carnatic tunes. This sets the stage for the one-minute green cracker fireworks at midnight, which are bright but silent.
After a tragic helium cylinder blast near the palace that killed three people, authorities have stepped up safety. Police presence has increased, vendors were moved from sensitive spots, and entry points are monitored closely. Fire engines and ambulances will be ready on site.
Police Commissioner Seema Latkar has shared strict guidelines with the public to keep the celebrations safe and peaceful. The illuminated palace and quiet green fireworks promise a dazzling but safe start to the New Year.
