Severe cold continued in Punjab and Haryana on Monday, December 29, 2025. The Meteorological Department reported dense fog in most areas, cutting visibility sharply. Hisar in Haryana was the coldest spot at 2.1° Celsius, three degrees below normal. Ambala recorded 8° Celsius, two degrees above normal, and Karnal had 8.6° Celsius, three degrees above average. Narnaul’s temperature was 4° Celsius, two degrees below normal, while Rohtak recorded 7.2° Celsius. Bhiwani reported a low of 5.5° Celsius. Dense fog covered many towns and cities, including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Pathankot, Mohali in Punjab and Ambala, Hisar, and Rohtak in Haryana. In many places, visibility dropped below 50 metres, according to the Meteorological official. Chandigarh, the joint capital, had a minimum temperature of 7.2° Celsius, one degree below normal. In Punjab, Ballowal Saunkhri in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar was the coldest at 2.4° Celsius. Amritsar’s minimum temperature was 5.5° Celsius, Ludhiana 5.6° Celsius, and Patiala 6.4° Celsius. Bathinda, Faridkot, and Gurdaspur recorded lows of 4.2, 4.9, and 4.3° Celsius, respectively. The severe cold and thick fog affected daily life and travel due to low visibility.
