Punjab and Haryana Endure Bitter Cold, Hisar Hits 2.5°C Minimum

Punjab and Haryana experienced intense cold on Sunday, December 28, 2025. Hisar in Haryana recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 2.5°C. Other places in Haryana were also cold: Ambala at 8.5°C, two degrees above normal; Narnaul at 5°C, one degree below normal; Rohtak at 5.8°C; and Bhiwani at 6°C. Chandigarh, the joint capital of both states, saw a low of 5.6°C, one degree below normal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast said that the maximum temperature in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula will stay below 19°C for the next five days. The minimum temperature will hover around 8°C. Dense fog may cover some areas across the states, causing low visibility. Cold wave conditions are expected to continue in isolated pockets. Punjab’s coldest spot was Faridkot at 3.4°C. Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded minimums of 4.4°C, while Patiala had 4.6°C, one degree below normal. Bathinda and Gurdaspur registered lows of 6°C and 4°C respectively. A thick blanket of fog enveloped many parts early in the morning, reducing visibility and making travel difficult in several areas.
