The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) in Ernakulam has issued show-cause notices to online food delivery companies over concerns that their "10-minute delivery" service breaks road safety rules. The department found that to meet tight delivery times, riders drive too fast and recklessly. Common issues include signal violations, improper lane changes, and riding without safety gear. Such risky behavior increases accident dangers. This move follows reports of accidents and deaths involving two-wheelers working for these services in various parts of the State. The notice asks companies to explain how they will keep ultra-fast deliveries safe and what steps are taken to protect riders. Transport Commissioner Nagaraju Chakilam said, "Fast-delivery systems must be reviewed with road safety in mind, and strict action will follow if violations continue." The Ernakulam Enforcement Regional Transport Officer added that inspections will be increased soon. Officials warn that these quick delivery models send a dangerous message that time is more important than life.
