US Visa Revocations Rise Suddenly Without Clear Reasons, Experts Warn Travel Risks
December 27, 2025
Since December, many US visas are being revoked without clear reasons. Immigration attorney Rahul Reddy noted people with old cases, like a 12-year-old DUI that was disclosed during visa stamping, are now losing visas. This affects H-1B, H-4, and F-1 visa holders in large numbers. Earlier, visa cancellations happened only if new information or fraud was found. "There is no public statement but visas are getting revoked," said Reddy. Attorney Emily Neumann highlighted the lack of official explanation. "These are people who already disclosed all their information... They have already determined that these people qualify," she said. Some visas were even revoked after stamping during the Trump era. Neumann added, "So that tells me this has nothing to do with actual public safety." Visa revocation applies only when a person leaves the US. Once outside, the visa is invalid, and they must get a fresh visa interview and approval. On social media, many NRIs reported getting messages about prudential visa revocations after returning to India. Also, the US Department of State now conducts social media checks and is randomly deferring visa interviews in India. Both attorneys strongly advise H-1B holders not to travel abroad now, even with valid visas and clean records. "You should not travel until this administration is out of office," Neumann warned. The rules are changing fast and unpredictably.
