A Goa court on Friday, December 26, extended the police custody of brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra until December 29. They own the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, where a tragic fire killed 25 people on December 6 in Arpora village. The brothers fled to Thailand soon after the fire but were deported back to India on December 17. The judicial magistrate of Mapusa court extended their custody after their initial 10-day remand expired on December 26. Their lawyer, Parag Rao, told reporters that "my clients did not oppose the extension of custody, as they want to cooperate with the investigating officer." The Luthras were not at the nightclub when the fire broke out. They are currently held by Anjuna police, who have charged them with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other offences. So far, eight people have been arrested. Police are also seeking a Blue Corner Notice against British national Surinder Kumar Khosla, who has fled to the United Kingdom and is an accused in the case.
