Bengaluru police arrested 25-year-old nurse Sudhakar for allegedly murdering his 39-year-old colleague Mamatha H.L. The incident followed an argument over marriage. Mamatha, a staff nurse at Jayadeva hospital for four years, was found dead at her home in Kumaraswamy Layout on December 25 morning. Mamatha and Sudhakar, both nurses, had been friends for about a year. Mamatha wanted to marry Sudhakar, but his family arranged his marriage to another woman, causing frequent fights between them. On December 24, Mamatha returned home with Sudhakar while her roommate was at work. The next day, when Mamatha did not respond, the landlady looked through a window and saw her lying in a pool of blood. Police were alerted and began investigating. They discovered Sudhakar had dropped Mamatha home that night. An argument about marriage turned violent, and Sudhakar allegedly stabbed her in the neck and throat with a kitchen knife. He ran away fearing arrest. The crime happened between 11:50 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. on the night of December 24-25. Sudhakar was charged under BNS Section 103(1) for murder after Mamatha’s brother filed a complaint. He was arrested on December 25 evening and sent to police custody by the court. “We have recorded his statement, but the weapon is yet to be recovered. Further investigation is under way to verify the claims made by the accused,” said a senior police officer. The case remains under active investigation.
