Aizawl police found freelance journalist Ezrela Dalidia Fanai, 41, dead in her house on Thursday, December 25, 2025. She lived alone after her mother died in July. She answered phone calls until the morning of December 24 but missed visits and calls that evening from local church youths organizing a Christmas Carol. When relatives could not contact her on December 25 morning, they, with locals, broke into her home and found her dead on the floor. Colleagues and relatives said she suffered from depression following her mother’s death. Locals reported finding alcohol bottles near her body. Police are investigating the case.
