December 24, 2025
The Hindu Joint Action Committee (JAC) held a protest at Adi Shankaracharya Circle on BRTS Road. They condemned the brutal killing of Hindu youth Deepu Das by religious extremists in Bangladesh. Speakers voiced concern about the safety and protection of Hindus in Bangladesh, where their numbers have sharply declined since partition. They demanded the Bangladesh government act quickly to protect Hindus and other minorities. Protesters called for strict punishment for those behind Deepu Das’s murder. The Hindu JAC burnt an effigy representing religious extremism and raised slogans against fanaticism, asking for an end to violence. The JAC also appealed to the international community to recognize the rising attacks on Hindus and defend minority rights and human dignity. Hindu JAC leaders Nagalingam, Shivaji, Avutupalli, Shivaprasad, Thota Suresh, Potharaju, JSRK Prasad, and other Hindu organization leaders took part in the protest.
