For the first time in three decades, snow has fallen in parts of Saudi Arabia. The desert-framed mountains near Tabuk, including Jabal Al Lawz and the Trojena highlands, were covered in snow at around 2,600 metres altitude. Temperatures dropped to about -4°C, allowing snow to settle. A cold air mass brought rain, strong winds, and record-low temperatures across northern Saudi Arabia, creating perfect conditions for snowfall. Social media flooded with photos and videos showing mountains blanketed in white. Locals in Tabuk and Hail embraced the rare event. They stepped outside to ski, play, and enjoyed the snowy scenes. Videos showed adults skiing, children playing in the snow, and even camels walking across snow-covered desert plains. The snowfall turned parts of the Kingdom into a surprising winter playground. Snow mixed with the usual desert landscape, creating a stunning icy outlook. Along with snow, a cold wave brought heavy rainfall to several regions. Many people found the freezing temperatures and snowy mountains exciting and hard to believe. This rare moment will be remembered as a unique event in Saudi Arabia’s weather history.
