On December 22, 2025, Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka of the Telangana High Court denied GITAM University's request for interim relief to restore power supply. The university had sought the court's direction to Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited after its power was cut on December 19 due to unpaid bills amounting to ₹118 crore. The judge expressed concern that no action was taken earlier by authorities regarding the outstanding dues. The university argued that the dues actually belonged to M/s VBC Ferro Alloys Limited, a company under the same ownership, and not to GITAM University. However, the court did not accept this argument. The hearing was adjourned to December 24 for further proceedings.
