Kishtwar Shuts Down Over Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh After Osman Bin Hadi Killing
December 23, 2025
Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir saw a complete shutdown on Monday, December 21, 2025. This came after attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh following the recent killing of student leader Osman Bin Hadi. The bandh was called by Shree Sanatan Dharam Sabha Kishtwar, led by Mahant Ramsharan Das Acharya. BJP leaders backed the shutdown. Markets, including Kokila Chowk, stayed closed in the town.
BJP Leader and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma said, "The Kokila Chowk market remained closed as part of the ongoing protests. People are protesting against the attacks, and persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh after the killing of Hadi. One Hindu worker was lynched and temples and religious places are under attack. We want to send a message from Kishtwar that we stand with Hindus of Bangladesh."
Protesters raised anti-Bangladesh and pro-Sanathan slogans during the demonstrations. The BJP Jammu and Kashmir unit is submitting a memorandum to the President of India, Prime Minister, and Union Home Minister. Mr. Sharma added, "The memorandum will put on record people’s sympathy and solidarity with Bangladeshi Hindus. We also demanded intervention from the government of India to stop attacks on Hindus and temples in Bangladesh."
The protesters demanded that the atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh stop immediately.
