Adani Group's Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL) will start commercial operations on December 25. From day one, passengers will enjoy free high-speed Wi-Fi at speeds up to 10 Mbps across the terminal. The airport will use the Adani OneApp, a digital-first passenger communication system, to send real-time updates such as flight status, boarding gate info, schedules and other essential alerts directly to passengers’ phones. This app will act as a virtual assistant, guiding travelers through the airport. It will also provide details about food outlets, retail stores, lounges, and other facilities, helping passengers manage their time better. The system aims to cut down dependence on physical information counters and static display boards. To boost connectivity, NMIAL has teamed up with state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL). BSNL will offer mobile voice and data services for passengers, staff, and airport operations using indigenous telecom tech from C-DoT, Tejas Networks, and TCS under the 'Made in India' initiative. This 4G network is ready for 5G upgrades in major cities, including Mumbai. Navi Mumbai International Airport, developed by NMIAL with Adani Group owning 74%, is built at a cost of ₹19,650 crore. The airport will initially handle a limited number of flights with plans to scale capacity to 20 million passengers annually in phase one, eventually reaching 90 million. This development will reduce pressure on Mumbai's existing airport and support regional air traffic growth. Airport officials confirmed thorough readiness checks and system trials are ongoing to ensure the digital services and infrastructure work smoothly by the launch date.
