A plastic collection and segregation unit at City Plastic in Kandikkal, Thalassery, was completely destroyed by fire on Saturday afternoon, December 20, 2025. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. Fire and Rescue Services from Thalassery, Panur, Mahe, and Kuthuparamba responded swiftly and controlled the fire after hours of effort. The cause of the fire remains unknown. Local police, residents, and volunteers joined the firefighting operations. Officials including the Thalassery Tahsildar, disaster management team, village officer, and local representatives arrived at the scene to manage relief and follow-up actions.
