On December 19, a large group of Congress workers in Mysuru tried to surround the BJP’s office. They were protesting the alleged misuse of central agencies to file false cases against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. The protest was led by Congress district unit president B.J. Vijaykumar and city unit president R. Murthy. The activists gathered near Ramaswamy Circle and marched towards the BJP office, shouting slogans. Police set up barricades and stopped them. Some Congress workers tried to break through but were held back by police. They were taken to CAR parade ground and later released. Tension lasted around the BJP office as BJP workers also gathered, shouting slogans against Congress. Mr. Vijaykumar accused the BJP government of harassing Sonia and Rahul Gandhi by misusing agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Mr. Murthy added, "The BJP-led Union government was using investigative agencies to ‘pursue its politics of vendetta’, which poses a serious threat to the nation’s democracy and sovereignty." The Delhi court had dismissed the ED’s complaint, Mr. Murthy noted. He said the Congress will continue fighting against such unethical BJP policies.
