Thick fog on Monday morning delayed 48 flights at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). Airport officials reported that between 4:14 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., poor visibility caused 46 domestic and 2 international flights to be postponed. This marks the second major disruption at KIA this winter, with a similar delay of 48 flights on November 27 due to dense fog. The fog observed at the airport is called radiation fog, which usually happens from November to February, between 3 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. During these hours, flight operations at Bengaluru airport often face challenges. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that fog and mist are very likely during early mornings in some parts of Bengaluru over the next 36 hours.
