Hours after the deadly mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, a Muslim cemetery in South Western Sydney was desecrated with decapitated pig heads. The pig heads were found at the entrance to the cemetery on Richardson Road, Narellan. Police confirmed, "Officers attended and found several pig heads at the scene. Police immediately commenced an investigation into the incident." The pig heads were removed and disposed of properly. Inquiries are ongoing. Ahmad Hraichie, known as 'The Muslim Undertaker' and director of the LMA Islamic Funeral Service, condemned the act. He said on Instagram, "You are a part of the problem. Today, at Narellan Cemetery, in the Muslim section, pig heads were thrown onto graves. To whoever did this: you have proven nothing except hatred... This is pure stupidity." He added, "Graves are places of rest, dignity, and respect—across all faiths and all humanity. If you want peace, this is not the way. If you want justice, this is not the way. All you are doing is showing a lack of humanity." The mass shooting involved a Muslim father-son duo. The 50-year-old father, killed in the attack, came to Australia in 1998 on a student visa. His 24-year-old son, born in Australia, was shot and is in hospital. Both held gun licenses for ten years and owned six guns legally. Following the tragedy, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese proposed stricter gun laws. He said he will limit how many guns a licensed owner can have. "People's circumstances can change. People can be radicalized over a period of time. Licences should not be in perpetuity," the PM stated.
