At least 11 people died and 16 were rushed to hospitals after a shooting at Sydney’s popular Bondi Beach. New South Wales Police declared the shooting a terrorist incident on Sunday. NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon announced the attack at a press conference. According to ABC, one shooter was killed, and the other was arrested. The wounded were treated both on-site and in hospitals across Sydney. The NSW Ambulance Service confirmed sending over 25 resources, including teams, ambulances, helicopters, and special units, to the scene. Four injured were taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, one each to Royal Prince Alfred and St George Hospital. Police advised the public to avoid Bondi Beach and take shelter if already there. The shooting happened near a Hanukkah festival called "Chanuka by the Sea 2025" organized by the Jewish centre Chabad of Bondi. The event included live music, games, and activities. Israel’s President Isaac Herzog condemned the "cruel" attack. He called on the Australian government to fight the "enormous wave of antisemitism" affecting society. Herzog said, "Our sisters and brothers in Sydney, Australia, have been attacked by vile terrorists in a very cruel attack on Jews who went to light the first candle of Hanukkah."
