A 65-year-old man from Sivaganga district was arrested for forgery after trying to fly to Dubai with a passport showing a fake date of birth. Airport Immigration officials grew suspicious when the man from Puthupatti tried to board the flight on Saturday. During questioning, he said he had worked in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai for 25 years. However, his passport did not show any foreign travel. When asked, he showed his old passport and explained he returned to India in 2018 due to ill health and stayed in his village. The man admitted that he could not find new work abroad because he was over 50 years old. To solve this, he got a second passport in 2022 with a false birth year of 1976, while his real birth year is 1961. The Immigration Officer filed a complaint, and Avaniyapuram police registered a case under forgery and the Passport Act against him.
