Saudi Arabia Teams Up with Archer Aviation to Launch Air Taxi Services in Major Cities
December 13, 2025
Saudi Arabia is stepping into the future by launching air taxi services across its big cities. The Kingdom has partnered with US company Archer Aviation to set up safety rules, regulations, and infrastructure needed for this advanced urban air travel. The deal was announced at the CoMotion global summit in Riyadh, where officials shared plans to reshape city commuting using advanced air mobility (AAM).
This joint effort supports Saudi Arabia’s aviation roadmap and aims to make travel within cities faster and more connected. As per the agreement, the two sides will work on rules for vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft. These rules will match the high safety standards of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), ensuring global safety compliance.
The rollout will happen in phases, starting with pilot operations. Saudi Arabia plans to conduct test flights, proof-of-concept demonstrations, and check infrastructure needs such as landing pads and maintenance centers. Public awareness campaigns will also prepare citizens for this airborne ride.
Capt. Suleiman Al-Muheimeed, Executive Vice President at the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), said the partnership is crucial to integrating VTOL aircraft into the Kingdom's aviation system. It also supports Saudi Arabia’s desire to lead globally in next-gen urban travel.
Adam Goldstein, CEO of Archer Aviation, praised Saudi Arabia’s bold and clear steps toward this futuristic transport. He said that matching FAA standards and early pilot tests will create safe, sustainable air travel for millions and help build a future-ready mobility ecosystem in the Kingdom.
With rules being set, test flights underway, and public education starting, Saudi Arabia is fast moving towards making air taxis a normal part of city life.
