Thiruvananthapuram district will count votes from the December 9 local body elections on December 13, Saturday. The State Election Commission announced 16 counting centres spread across the district. Counting will start at 8 a.m. sharp. The centres for the block panchayats include Government Girls’ High School, Parassala; Government High School, Marayamuttom; New Higher Secondary School, Nellimoodu; Government VHSS, Malayinkeezhu; St Xavier’s College, Thumba; G. Karthikeyan Memorial Government Vocational School, Vellanad; Government Girls’ HSS, Nedumangad; Government HSS, Pirappancode; Government Model VHSS, Kilimanoor; Government Boys’ High School, Attingal; and Sree Narayana College, Sivagiri. Municipality vote counting centres are Attingal municipal office halls, Government HSS Neyyatinkara, Boys’ High School Mancha in Nedumangad, and Varkala municipal office. The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation’s votes will be counted at Mar Ivanios College. According to the final Phase I results published on Wednesday, the district saw a 67.47% voter turnout. Out of 29,12,773 voters, 19,65,386 cast their votes. Male voter turnout was 67.70%, female turnout 67.37%, and transgender voters 53.12%. The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation recorded a lower turnout of 58.29%, with 4,75,011 votes out of 8,14,967 voters.
