The Nedumangad police have registered a case against Youth Congress leader S.S. Syedali of Kaipadi for filming his vote inside a polling booth during Tuesday's local body elections. Syedali allegedly recorded the voting process on his mobile phone and uploaded the video on Instagram. The complaint led to charges under Section 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with provocation with intent to cause riot, and Sections 128 and 132 of the Representation of the People Act. These sections cover maintenance of secrecy of voting and misconduct at a polling station. Police are investigating the matter further.
