On December 9, Hyderabad's Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) gathered with 10 registered rehabilitation centres to fight drug abuse in the city. The meeting focused on structured counselling for drug users, especially students and young people, and strengthening cooperation with police during drug arrest operations. Deputy Commissioner of Police Vaibhav Gaikwad stressed, "Rehabilitation plays a crucial role in building drug-free communities." He urged rehab centres to offer professional counselling and psychological support to those referred by H-NEW. The centres present included Wisdom Society, New Hope Association, DARE Rehabilitation Centre, and Asha De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre. They promised full cooperation to back the police in their efforts. The session also aimed to build stronger ties between law enforcement, health experts, NGOs, and rehab networks. Police inspectors G.S. Daniel, S. Bala Swamy, and sub-inspectors C. Venkata Ramulu and B. Manoj Kumar joined the talks. Together, they plan to curb drug abuse through teamwork, timely rehab, and proactive support for youth in trouble.
