The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 Grand Finale wrapped up on Tuesday at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. This huge national event had a nonstop 36-hour innovation push. Bright young minds from all over India raced to solve real problems using technology. In the Blockchain and Cyber Security category, the team from Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology, Haryana, won with a strong blockchain-based cyber security framework. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, bagged the AI-based Pollution Source Identification prize for Delhi NCR with their AI-powered dashboard that helps plan environmental policies. The Sustainable Transportation & Logistics award went to Goka Raju Ranga Raju Institute of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad. They created a solution to optimize logistics and cut carbon emissions. KC College of Engineering, Maharashtra, won in Clean & Green Technology with an innovative model to promote sustainable environmental practices. Sukanta Majumdar, Union Minister of State for Education & Development of the North Eastern Region, connected with finalists across India via video call. Over two days, 120 students—including 52 girls—showcased smart digital solutions while working with experts and mentors. Each winning team received a ₹1.5 lakh cash prize for their outstanding technical work addressing societal challenges. Vidyashankar S., VTU Vice-Chancellor, congratulated participants and stressed the need for innovation-driven problem solving. He said, "We are proud VTU hosted this national event and remain committed to fostering creativity and research." Nodal Center Head Anand Kulkarni and other officials handed out the prizes amidst a gathering of senior guests.
