Hundreds of Congress activists marched over one kilometre from Tipu Sultan Masjid to Ram Mandir along Central Avenue in Kolkata on December 6, 2025. The Sadbhawna Rally aimed to protest efforts to divide people by religion. "We have respect for every religion," said State Congress president Subhankar Sarkar. "We stand against the politics of dividing people along religious identities by inciting religious sentiment in people." The rally reminded people not to revive the violence after the Babri Masjid demolition of December 6, 1992. Sarkar said, "Building temples and mosques will not solve hunger and provide employment opportunities to lakhs." Besides promoting religious harmony, the rally also condemned corruption in Bengal during the TMC rule. Sarkar added, "We also condemn the monumental graft and corruption which engulfed Bengal during the TMC rule and shrinking job opportunities for the youth amid attempts to drive a wedge between people along religious identities." Rallyists carried party and national flags, holding placards against the BJP and TMC. Senior Congress leaders walked alongside supporters, emphasizing unity in diversity and condemning divisive politics.
