Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Flags Rising Violence Against Migrants, Asks Amit Shah to Act
January 1, 2026
Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran on Wednesday warned Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the worsening law and order in Tamil Nadu. He pointed to violent attacks on migrant workers and growing drug abuse among youngsters. In his letter, he cited an assault on a migrant labourer from West Bengal in Coimbatore, an attack on a person from Odisha by boys allegedly on ganja, and another attack in Tiruttani involving youth under alcohol influence.
“These incidents clearly indicate a disturbing trend of increasing attacks on migrant workers, coupled with rising drug abuse among youngsters, and a clear failure of the law-and-order machinery in Tamil Nadu,” said Mr. Nagenthran. He called for urgent intervention and proper action to protect public safety and security.
