DRDO Fires Two Pralay Missiles in Successful Salvo Test off Odisha Coast
December 31, 2025
On December 31, 2025, the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) tested two indigenous Pralay missiles in a salvo launch from the same launcher. The test took place off the coast of Odisha around 10:30 AM. This user evaluation trial showed both missiles followed their planned paths and met mission targets, as confirmed by tracking sensors from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur. Telemetry systems on nearby ships verified missile hits at designated impact points. The Pralay missile is a solid propellant, quasi-ballistic missile with modern guidance systems for high accuracy. It can carry various warheads to strike multiple target types. The test event was observed by DRDO scientists, Indian Army and Air Force representatives, and industry partners. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the success, saying it "has established the reliability of the Pralay missile system." Dr. Samir V. Kamat, DRDO chairman and Defence R&D Secretary, also congratulated the team, stating the "achievement indicates the system’s imminent readiness for induction into the armed forces."
