Telangana Launches 31-Day Road Safety Drive for National Road Safety Month 2026
December 31, 2025
Telangana's Transport Department started a 31-day plan on Wednesday to boost road safety for National Road Safety Month 2026. This program is part of the Centralised Road Safety Action Plan and will be implemented district by district.
The plan aims to improve safety for two-wheelers and four-wheelers by enforcing helmet and seatbelt use. Since many two-wheelers belong to college students, the department will engage with them directly. Offenders will be fined.
Speed control on highways, main roads, and lanes will be promoted through social media and radio campaigns, urging drivers to slow down and drive carefully. The department will also check for vehicle overloading and verify driver licenses and fitness.
Special focus will be on accident-prone black spots. Police and Roads & Buildings officials will conduct joint inspections to fix road defects. Buses in schools and public transport will be regularly inspected for mechanical fitness and safety gear.
Drivers of autorickshaws, taxis, RTC buses, and heavy vehicles will get refresher safety training on safe driving, passenger behavior, fatigue, and accident prevention.
Health and eye check-ups for drivers will be held. First-aid and emergency response training will be given with help from medical teams and Red Cross volunteers.
Public engagement will push better road user behavior. Road safety pledges will be taken in schools, offices, and public areas. Parents will be encouraged to vow responsible driving as a duty towards children.
Awareness activities with posters, banners, audio messages, short films, and competitions will be done at bus stops, RTA offices, movie halls, and busy crossroads.
This focused and well-rounded plan aims to bring safer roads to Telangana in 2026.
