The government will hold a public meeting in Belagavi on January 6 about the planned 8-km flyover connecting National Highway 48 and National Highway 748. District Minister Satish Jarkiholi said that officials seek suggestions from citizens and stakeholders before finalising the project. "Plans will be finalised only after incorporating suggestions from the public and stakeholders," he said. The flyover aims to reduce traffic congestion in growing Belagavi. It will be built in three phases over public land without any land acquisition. The three phases cover routes from Sankam Hotel to Rani Channamma Circle, then to Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Chowk, and finally to Tilakwadi Third Railway Gate. Minister Jarkiholi stressed the importance of public consultation for a project directly affecting residents, traders, and institutions along the route. Tender documents will be prepared after the meeting. Officials were also directed to arrange alternative traffic routes during construction to avoid public inconvenience and to coordinate for smooth project progress. The State Cabinet has approved ₹270 crore for the flyover. Officials from the district administration, police, transport, traffic, public works departments, and NHAI attended the preparatory meeting. Feedback from citizens will be included if feasible, officials added.
