A 20-year-old man, G. Virithis from Ambalathadi, was arrested for sexually harassing a teenage girl at Sikkandar Chavadi on Monday, December 29, 2025. The girl, a first-year engineering student, was walking near the TNEB office in Dinamani Nagar when Virithis approached her. He had previously shown romantic interest, which she rejected. On Monday, he again made advances, which she declined. Following this, he confronted and verbally abused her, even threatening to harm her with acid. Acting on the girl's complaint, the Samayanallur police registered a case against him for attempting to outrage her modesty, criminal intimidation, and under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.
