The Congress office at Mathattum in Kolassery, Kannur, Kerala, was vandalised late on Saturday night, December 27, 2025. Unidentified persons broke open the shutters, damaged property, and dumped party materials on a nearby road and creek. Congress sources said the attackers destroyed ceiling sheets, fans, and scattered files and photographs, including one of Mahatma Gandhi. The Congress party alleged that the CPI(M) was behind the attack. Following a complaint, the Dharmadam police registered a case and started an investigation. Inspector P. Sreehari led a team, along with fingerprint experts, to collect evidence from the site. In response, the CPI(M) Vadakkumpad local committee condemned the vandalism, calling it an act by anti-social elements. The committee expressed doubts about linking the incident to CPI(M) and suggested it might be part of a political conspiracy. The Congress held protests on Sunday and Monday condemning the attack and demanding action.
