Unexploded Bomb Found After Attack on Vadakara Panchayat Member Linked to Voting Row
December 28, 2025
On Sunday, December 28, an unidentified gang, said to be Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers, attacked the house of Rajani Thekke Thayyil. Rajani is a member of Vadakara block panchayat. Police found an unexploded steel bomb at her home after the attack.
Sources say that Rajani accidentally voted for a United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate. This vote helped the UDF win control in the Vadakara block panchayat election. The election ended in a tie with both Left Democratic Front (LDF) and UDF winning seven seats each.
Rajani is a Rashtriya Janata Dal activist who ran under the LDF banner. She was suspended for six months after the accidental vote for UDF candidate Kottayil Radhakrishnan.
Police have registered a case and continue to investigate the incident.
