A fresh police camp called 'Surakhsa evam Jan Suvidha Camp' was established on Friday at Dodimarka village in the Naxalite-affected Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. This camp acts as a forward base for the 7th battalion of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF). Despite tough terrain and cold weather, the District Reserve Guard, CAF, and district police showed great courage to set up the camp, an official said. The camp will help stop Maoist movements along the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border. It will also support building a road connecting Bhopalpatnam in Bijapur to Gadchiroli in Maharashtra via Farsegarh and Sendra. This will speed up development in remote villages around Indravati National Park. Since 2024, 29 new security camps have been opened in Bijapur. Also, 923 Maoists have surrendered, 221 were killed in encounters, and 1,100 arrested due to strong anti-Naxalite efforts. The camps are part of the state's 'Niyad Nella Nar' scheme, aimed at giving villagers better health, education, electricity, water, PDS shops, mobile coverage, roads, and bridges. The official added that these camps will help create peace, security, and trust among the local people.
