The Krishna Milk Union (KMU) has introduced the ‘Haritha Gopalam’ scheme as a New Year gift for paddy farmers. KMU chairman Chalasani Anjaneyulu said the State government approved this scheme under MGNREGS. It aims to promote fodder cultivation in rural areas by establishing fodder fields and nurseries. This plan will help solve the shortage of animal feed. Financial incentives will be given to farmers to set up fodder fields and nurseries. The scheme ensures year-round fodder availability, improves livestock productivity, and supports farmers’ economic growth. It also opens chances for women to become entrepreneurs through fodder farming. Farmers can grow fodder crops as intercrops in mango and palm oil orchards to earn extra income. The scheme encourages using government, community, and ‘devadaya’ lands for fodder cultivation. The chairman stressed that promoting fodder fields and livestock hostels shows the government’s strong focus on farmer welfare and rural development. Krishna Milk Union will provide high-quality fodder seeds and saplings to help farmers successfully implement the scheme. KMU managing director Kolli Eshwar Babu, along with board members, trust members, and feed committee members, were present at the press meet.
