Vasantholsavam Light Festival Dazzles Visitors at Kanakakkunnu Palace Until January 4
December 27, 2025
The light festival at Vasantholsavam, held on the Kanakakkunnu Palace grounds, is attracting large crowds with its stunning scale and grandeur. The festival, organised by the State Tourism department with the district Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), started on December 24, adding sparkle to Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Visitors are welcomed by a giant snow sleigh and arch at the entrance. This impressive display includes six reindeer up to 15 feet tall, leading to a sleigh rising 50 to 60 feet above ground.
Guests walk through a brightly lit tunnel called the "Tunnel of Lights," which offers an immersive experience. Other highlights include the "electric forest," a high-tech lighted forest area, and a space-themed "space tunnel." The “Tunnel of Shades” uses light and shadow to create intriguing patterns. At the palace lawns, the "crystal forest" features trees wrapped in pink and blue lights.
Interactive exhibits such as “Light Amaze,” a glowing labyrinth, and “The World of Reflections,” a windmill display, also delight visitors. The "Mirror Garden" uses mirrors to multiply light effects, while the “Garden of Infinity” creates the illusion of endless light fields.
Additional attractions include the Kaleido-House, inspired by a kaleidoscope’s shifting patterns and colors. The festival also features themed zones: “Scandinavian Christmas” with an igloo simulating a snow world, “China Town” displaying a giant red dragon and lantern path, and “Flaming Grounds,” a fiery light installation.
Visitors can explore walkways with unique lighting styles that guide them through the festival’s zones. Vasantholsavam and the light festival are scheduled to conclude on January 4.
