In Parvatipuram-Manyam district, a tribal woman’s body was carried in a garbage vehicle, causing widespread anger. The 65-year-old Radhamma died in Bhadragiri hospital on Friday. Her family could not get an ambulance as private drivers asked for ₹2,500, which they could not pay. The family had to carry the body nearly two kilometers to their home on a rickshaw. This heartbreaking situation went viral on social media. Opposition leaders including Araku MP Gumma Thanuja Rani, YSRCP-Parvathipuram Manyam District president Shatrucharla Parikshit Raju, and Congress leader Vangala Dalinaidu demanded a government inquiry. Bhadragiri hospital officer G. Naga Bhusana Rao said the family took the body on a rickshaw because their home was only 1 km away. District Collector N. Prabhakar Reddy ordered hospital authorities to provide free ambulance or transport for poor families to ensure respectful last rites. He stressed hospitals must avoid such incidents going forward.
