Indian Army, Assam Rifles Execute Rapid Helicopter Troop Drill in Arunachal Pradesh

The Indian Army and Assam Rifles held a joint helicopter-borne troop insertion exercise on December 26, 2025, in the important Vijaynagar area of Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh. The drill aimed to test rapid troop deployment and boost operational readiness in difficult, remote terrain. ‘‘The drill focused on speed, coordination, and precision to ensure smooth execution under near-real conditions,’’ said Defence spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat. The exercise involved quick induction of acclimatised troops into a simulated combat zone to prepare for emerging security challenges. Lt. Col. Rawat added, ‘‘The operation showcased the forces' ability to deploy troops swiftly and efficiently in challenging environments. The participating troops demonstrated high levels of professionalism, adaptability, and combat readiness throughout the exercise.’’ The joint drill also improved coordination between the Assam Rifles and the Indian Army and helped fine-tune their operating procedures in strategically sensitive areas. Such exercises enhance the joint response mechanism and overall operational reach in the region.
