Intense Cold Grips Punjab, Haryana; Kashmir Prepares for Snow and Rain

Punjab and Haryana are battling intense cold and thick fog on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Ballowal Saunkhri in Punjab recorded the coldest temperature at 4.4°C. Amritsar’s low was 5.1°C, Ludhiana 4.6°C, and Patiala 7°C. Chandigarh recorded 6.9°C. In Haryana, Gurugram was coldest at 4.9°C, with Ambala at 9.3°C and Karnal 8°C. Kashmir saw temperatures drop below freezing, with Srinagar at -2.6°C and Sonamarg at a chilling -5.8°C. Pahalgam was at -4.8°C, Gulmarg -4.2°C, Qazigund -2.8°C, Kokernag -0.9°C, and Kupwara -3.8°C. The India Meteorological Department said Kashmir will have dry weather till December 29, followed by rain and snow near New Year’s Eve. "The Valley is bracing up for another spell of rains and snow around the New Year’s Eve," officials said. Clear skies caused the plunge in temperatures, making the nights bitterly cold.
