Uttarakhand police have arrested 511 people, including 19 Bangladeshis, during 'Operation Kalnemi' in Haridwar, Dehradun, and Udham Singh Nagar districts. The operation began in July 2025 as a state campaign to stop illegal activities like fraud and hypocrisy done under the cover of religion. Over 4,800 people were checked in this drive. Of the 19 Bangladeshis caught staying illegally, 10 have been sent back, while action continues against the others. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the campaign is not against any community but aims to protect law, order, and dignity of 'Devbhoomi'. He added, "faith will be respected, crime, hypocrisy and fraud under its guise will not be tolerated under any circumstances." The government statement was issued on December 26, 2025.
