Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State vice-president Vemuri Anand Surya on Friday accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of spreading false information about the Tirumala temple for political benefits. Speaking at the TDP office in Mangalagiri, he said the NDA coalition government is handling the large flow of devotees at Tirumala and other temples very well. "Unable to digest this, the YSRCP leaders are spreading false propaganda through a section of the media, with claims of stampedes and government negligence," he said. Anand Surya pointed out that senior police officials confirmed no such incidents happened, but YSRCP continues its "malicious campaign to damage the reputation of Tirumala temple and hurt the sentiments of devotees." He also accused YSRCP of spreading fake videos and rumors about cow deaths in goshalas, irregularities in annadanam, poor crowd management, and wrongful appointments in TTD. He called this a deliberate attempt to block spiritual tourism in the state. Attacking the previous YSRCP government, Anand Surya alleged massive mismanagement and corruption in Tirumala, mentioning illegal appointments, temple fund misuse, black marketing of darshan and seva tickets, and using prasadam for politics.
