Palestinian Driver Kills Two in Northern Israel; Attacker Shot, West Bank Raid Planned
December 27, 2025
A Palestinian motorist ran over a man and stabbed a woman in northern Israel, killing both, Israeli emergency services said. The attacker, from the occupied West Bank town of Qabatiya, was shot and wounded by a civilian at the scene on Friday and taken to hospital, Israeli police reported. "This was a rolling terror attack," said police.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said he had ordered the military to respond strongly in Qabatiya to stop further attacks. The Israeli military said it was "preparing for an operation" in the area. It is common for Israel to raid West Bank towns linked to attackers and destroy homes of their families. Israel says this helps find militant networks and stop future attacks, but rights groups call it collective punishment.
The Israeli ambulance service confirmed the man and woman died at the scene. A teenager was also injured. Meanwhile, an Israeli reservist soldier was placed under house arrest after he rammed his vehicle into a Palestinian man praying roadside in the West Bank on Thursday. The military said the soldier acted "in severe violation of his authority," confiscated his weapon, and ended his service. The Palestinian man was unhurt and discharged from hospital.
According to the UN, from October 7, 2023, to October 17, 2025, over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank mainly in security operations and settler violence. During the same period, 57 Israelis died in Palestinian attacks.
